Holiday Inn Salem

Clean rooms and friendly staff.

Everything was as it should be, with the possible exception of breakfast, which was not great. For the money, a great stay.

Could not sleep because there were some rude. Kids/and their parents running around in the hallways all night long!

Very convenient location, comfortable beds, attractive room, great indoor pool and spa. The Mexican restaurant on site has good food. It was crowded during our August stay - lots of wedding parties. Only one computer to use was not enough. Front desk was apathetic to my requests.

Really liked the location to Canobie Lake Park and the short drive to Rte 28, which has restaurants and shopping. This is our second time staying here, will come again. However, our room was not straighten up. Housekeeping knocked and we asked them to come back, because we still needed some time, they asked if we needed any supplies right then, we said no. This hotel is good for someone who has business in the Salem area or who will be visiting area attractions and doesn't plan to spend much time in the room. It was clean, but the rooms were cramped and the bathrooms were especially tiny. When you open the bathroom door there is less than one inch of clearance from the edge of the bowl to the door! The front desk staff was inattentive, but the housekeeping crew were hard-working and friendly. This hotel was ok, but closer to 2 stars than 3. read more

The staff at the hotel was very nice. However, the pool area was disgusting. There were towels of varying degrees of filthiness laying around everywhere - dripping off of the chairs, on the floor, on the tables. In addition, there were no clean towels available at all. The bathrooms in the pool area had toilet paper pieces stuck to the floor, and in pools of water. The stench of urine was overwhelming when you opened the door. Towels also on the floor in the bathroom area. Not a clean environment. The towel lady did eventually arrive, and gave us clean towels. However, she did not clean up any area while we were there. The bathroom condition is enough to not have me return there. Very, very unhealthy. Bathroom in the room was clean, although there was no waste basket available in the bathroom. Linens were very clean. Bed coverlets and sheets very, very clean. If they had not been so clean, I may have left, but they were very fresh. read more

The only problem (that ruined the stay) we encountered was that the pool and hot tub were so severely over treated that it destroyed my 11 yr old daughter's waist length hair! I have spent the past 5 days trying to undo the chemical damage. But, I fear that we are going to have to dramatically cut her hair. Very upsetting.

Conveniently located off of main highway. Rooms were nice and clean. Staff was accommodating, although they did answer phone a few times in the middle of my check in suggesting that they were short staffed at the front desk. Why they would close the pool b/w 1-2:30PM for cleaning each day is beyond me. Right at prime time on weekends. Good Mexican restaurant on property but nothing else close by. read more
