Description of Holiday Inn San Clemente
The Holiday Inn San Clemente Downtown Resort overlooks the blue Pacific Ocean in the center of the lovely beach community of San Clemente, 5 minutes from world famous Trestles surfing beach. It's halfway between Los Angeles and San Diego, a serene world away from the faster urban pace of its larger neighbors. San Clemente, next door to famous Laguna Beach, is a town made for walking and sits in the center of town, just steps away from restaurants, cafes, unique shops and a beautiful white sand beach. Legoland, Disneyland and Knott®s Berry Farm are a 40 minute drive. San Diego Zoo, Sea World, Universal Studios, Hollywood, Temecula Wine Country/Vinyards and Tijuana/Mexico are all about an hour drive. Each of the hotel's 72 rooms features a refrigerator, coffee maker, and hair dryer and free WI/FI for your convenience. Many also offer ocean views and balconies. Or enjoy one of our deluxe rooms with in-room private spas. Our great restaurant Maxim offers relaxed but stylish dining for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Room service is available, as well. And if you feel energetic, we have a swimming pool, spa and fitness room for your daily workouts. Free parking.
Description said it was a short walk to the beach. It was 1/2 mile down a big hill.

Easy on and off freeway access.
Ocean view. More like some distant water through buildings.

The spa was murky and scary looking, so I did not try it. Pool was nice, simple, and if you closed your eyes you could pretend that the freeway noise 100 ft away was the sound of the ocean. Some hallway walls were of an odd texture, making the place seem very dated, but there was new paint everywhere like they are really making an effort to make it nice. We were there for a one night stay, and after we checked in we learned that the restaurant was closed. We ordered take out from a nearby restaurant and I only had a few bites and I am a guy who eats anything. read more

Friendly people for staff.
Charged extra money to change room, which was still not up to par.

For the price we paid, we should have had a room that provided a quiet nights rest.

I didn't like this hotel at all.
The toilet in the room was stopped up and we couldn't get any one to fix it.

The room was dirty with cereal from the last people who stayed there. The toilet was stopped up and we couldn't get anyone to fix it we had to get a plunger ourself. The Jacuzzi was cold and dirty.

Location.
Paring. Very tight spaces and I only drive a small car.

Location great in heart of San Clemente. Staff was great and rooms about what I expected for a mid star hotel.

Nothing.
The room we had was against the freeway.

When I asked if we could upgrade to a room with a balcony and a view we were told that it was overcast and we wouldn't be able to see anything anyway.

Coffee in the room and a refrigerator.
Right on the freeway. Needs updating.

Not a 3 star hotel. Over valued for what it was. If it would have been a 1 star I would have been very pleased.
