Holiday Inn Santa Monica

This was a great hotel. You will have to pay for parking your car overnight, as it is a downtown destination. Also, the windows do not face the ocean directly, I would not pay extra for a view.

Exceptionally clean and safe. A room key was necessary to activate the elevator to go beyond the lobby. No refrigerators or microwaves in rooms, which would have been helpful with small children. The staff was mostly friendly and management was exceptionally helpful.

This hotel is in a great location. Just a block from the pier/beach and a short walk to the 3rd Street Promenade. The staff was friendly and courteous. The only downside would be the noise level from the street and freeway. Otherwise it was a great place to stay for a short visit.

Decent place, no real complaints, except the overall cleanliness was not as high as desired - we are picky about that.

I had not stayed at a Holiday Inn since I was a child - likely 35 + years ago and was very pleasantly surprised with the property. I am used to staying at the W, Westin, Hilton etc and will definitely put Holiday Inn on my list for future stays; impressive.

We were happy with this hotel for the most part. Our only complaint was the helpfulness of the front desk staff. I was sent the wrong direction twice, hauling kids with me, and walking distances described were longer than the staff told. Tough with kids. Pay to sleep, not to park, drop your bags and spouse off, and the park at the pier for only $6. The walk will do you good, chubby!

This property is a good choice for families. It is close to the Santa Monica pier, a shopping mall and the promenade. Business travelers would find the hotel adequate. It doesn't have a romantic ambience for a weekend get away.

This hotel has a great location; however, it has become somewhat dilapidated. The star rating is not accurate given the current state of the physical rooms. A great deal of work has been performed and is not done in an effort to maintain the elegance it may have once had. An example, the elevator has been retrofitted to have access card readers for any floor above the lobby. The work to make this happen was performed to a utilitarian standard, that is, it works but the aesthetic is terrible. This type of retrofit work is woven throughout the fabric of this hotel in such a fashion that really degrades the initial design efforts that may have made this hotel a much more comfortable stay. This hotel is clean, friendly and has a great location to boot. Nothing fancy, but great access to the beach, promenade, pier, and same place. I would return with my daughter.
