Just "blocks from the Galleria and Highland Village", this "edgy" boutique with a "sexy vibe" and a "good social scene" is a solid "home base for a shopping spree"; the "delightful mix" of guests that appreciate the "ultramodern", "pleasantly attractive rooms" ("love" the "window seats"), "smiling" staff and "decent dining" at bistro moderne doesn't seem to mind the "loud lobby bar" and "mini" quarters.

Derek hotel is surely an upscale boutique hotel. Only drawback is the lack of self parking facility for guests and visitors. The only option is to pay for a 20$ valet, an overkill for a place like houston.

Location is close to my Houston office.
I was disappointed that the only parking was valet parking. It was inconvenient and more expensive.

Seeing hotel Derek at night is an impressive sight. Unfortunately, I was disappointed with the smaller rooms and valet parking.

Convenient to business and shopping.
Bathroom tub needs to upgraded, drain slow and tub ceramic chipping off.

Good location to downtown and galleria area. Comfortable room for business travelers. Restaurant is more like a large bar - too loud to enjoy a dinner. Many other restaurants in the area so if you OK with eating elsewhere you have lots of choices at better prices.

The beds were super comfy, the room was well appointed.

Hotel was really a 4 star or above. Not what I was expecting, exceeded my expectations. The little touches and extra things in the room was really nice. There was a toothbrush, razor, top of the line toiletries, mini meds kit, great snack and drink bar...

Super clean, friendly staff great room.

The stay at Hotel Derek was pleasurable. We ate in the restaurant and the food and drinks were fantastic. The wait staff was very attentive. Better than anywhere I have been in the past. Beds were super comfortable with plenty of space.

It was clean and the lobby smelt good.
The reception people were not friendly and one guy there looked like he was forced to work there.

When we spoke with the reception area, there was this guy there who did not smile or made us feel welcomed, also, the room was really noisy at night, cos we could hear some loading into a truck or something and then we could hear at 3am people talking and laughing in the corridors of our room. The valet people were really nice. When were first entered the room, the pillow on the bed were not placed neatly it was ruffled. read more
