Proximity to major spots.
Safety concerns in the surrounding neighborhood.
Overall, the experience of staying in this hotel is great, but not superb. For a 4-star hotel I think it is qualified. However, the room is somewhat small for a traveling couple. It offers Aveda toiletry, which adds a point.

I like it very much the only bad thing is that the room was quiet small. Overall we had a good experience. I would recommend it.

The staff was excellent. They were extremely helpful.
The room was small and there was an odd odor.
Overall the hotel was very good. The staff was extremely helpful from the valet to the desk clerk to the concierge. The lobby was attractive and the bar looked good although we didn't partake. The restaurant seemed upscale with prices to match. The Queen room was tiny, but clean. The bathroom was pretty much what you would expect. The only complaint was there was an odor that would come and go. It smelled vaguely like smoke, although the entire hotel was smoke free. read more

Location.
Rooms a bit small.
Overall, the location was excellent, hotel very clean but rooms a bit small. Felt room rates could have been better in light of the space in the hotel room.

Very elegant boutique hotel in Union Square area.
It's a little far of a walk from public transportation and it's closer than I would like to the bad areas of the tenderloin district.
Charming and elegant boutique hotel on the western edge of Union Square. It's a bit of a hike to walk from Bart/Muni with luggage.

Great location
The room was extremely small and had loud noise coming from the plumbing.
The room reflected the vintage building with small room and queen bed. The room was covered in stripped wallpaper making it seem more like a circus tent.

very attractive, great location, great price
don't like dogs running freely in the halls and lobby or hearing them at night
great location, great local restaurant, decor quite attractive and rooms very well equiped - would like at least two chairs in the room for relaxation -

parking was $49 if I was staying at the hotel, but to park in the same structure as someone just pulling in to park, was only $24
The rooms have a quirky and eclectic style - although the rooms and bathrooms are smaller than I prefer, the overall friendliness and helpful nature of the staff made up for it
