Part of the Kimpton chain, this "fun" Downtowner with a "laid-back atmosphere" "epitomizes Portland" – so feel free to "bring your dog" and/or the kids to relax in the colorful, "electic" rooms (you can even call on a pet psychic for an extra fee); the service is "terrific" and evening wine tastings are "a nice touch", so many can overlook a restaurant they say is "holding it back."

Nice rooms, clean, and a well run place.
Lobby seems a bit sterile and uninviting.

We had stayed at the Benson a few nights before. We liked the Monaco's bedrooms better but the Benson has such a magnificent lobby with so much more going on the piano bar, proximity to great restaurants, etc.

The bed was umber-comfy.
The room was very small, would have liked to see some sort living space in room.

Check in was fast and easy, hotel staff was super chill. The wine hour was 5-6 was a hit, good piano music and great atmosphere. Room was super clean, but extremely small. The bed was the best part, one of the best I've slept in.

People were really friendly and great, desk staff, concierge, folks doing bits and pieces around the hotel.
No pool but that was would have been an added bonus - super picky on our part.

When we came back after dinner and wanted a bottle of wine, the woman at the front desk offered us one at no charge and we didn't even ask for it!
It was right next to the liquor store which had a panhandler in front of it most of the day.

I highly recommend this hotel. The amenities were nice, it was conveniently located, and I felt like the staff went above-and-beyond. When I wanted to get a cab the doorman offered the town car service, which came to only $9 (cheaper than a cab I'm sure, given that it was only a mile drive but took nearly 20 minutes).

$31 overnight parking. Was not expecting this.

This is the nicest hotel in Portland. Great interior decorating, lovely views and friendly staff. I would stay here again in a heart beat.
