The Hotel Monaco Washington DC - 2009 is proud to announce the completion of its multimillion dollar guest room renovation. Orchestrated by California-based team design atelier, these exquisitely redesigned guest rooms maintain and enhance the original historic restoration of the us general Post Office Building, while combining contemporary styles, and modern colorations that let the guest know they are in a current, vibrant Washington DC destination hotel. The upgraded fabrics and furnishings are a mix of traditional designs infused with modern colors and scale that indulge the senses. Hotel Monaco Where History Stays in Style follows the historic roots of the 1839 Tariff Building location. Built on an entire city block in the style of a Roman Palazzo, complete with marble columns and facia, the 1839 Tariff Building has been meticulously restored in every detail. Hotel Monaco accentuates the buildings vintage architectural details with bold, modern furnishings and personal amenities. The hotel boasts a spacious "Living Room" lobby that incorporates three distinct sitting areas for which guests can mingle, relax and enjoy the hosted evening wine hour. Pets were an unpleasant surprise. The lack of a pool and a basement room that was too much basement were also unwelcome.

Great location, clean.
Rooms kind of small, doors slammed loudly.

Beyond the fact that the desk clerk was grumpy when we checked in it was OK. Maid service had to be requested one day, but once the call was made they maid promptly showed up. Cool robes.

This hotel has a wonderful location and a very pretty face but the front desk persons are either under-trained or just plain arrogant and rude.

The staff was wonderful and we loved the Guppy Love program which brings a goldfish to your room for your stay!

Wonderful hotel. Great staff. Parking a bit expensive, but to be expected in a big city. Very comfortable room and bed. Hotel was wonderful and very accepting of my child. Included a kid pack, with games, gifts and more. And we loved being able to keep a goldfish in our room for the duration of our stay. We would love to be able to return to this hotel again in the future!

Nothing negative at all.

Great hotel. Loved the leopard robes! My only wish was that they had more connected-rooms, which was what I requested. But we managed fine with 3 kids under 8.
