Great location, excellent hotel.
Staff, at front desk, was not as responsive as I had expected.
We like to stay here whenever we can and for the last 2 years we've started a Christmas tradition of staying here for a night or two during the holidays to see the Nutcracker and enjoy SF. The only problem we had was with the person at the front desk. Sunday morning there was a water main break in SF and the water was brownish-yellow. We have 2 small kids and my 7-year old was bathing in the dirty water. I didn't realize that it was so bad until the tub was full and my daughter was in it. I immediately got her out and called the front desk. The person at the front desk seemed defensive. She explained that it was the city's fault and they assured me the water was fine, just not clear. She said to run the tap for 10-15 minutes and it would clear up. After running it for 45 minutes, it was not clear. The tub was also clogged and was not draining. Another call and they promised to send a technician. We waited a long time and called again, all the while running the tap. The same person said that 'it should be clear by now'. I was now getting angry. I reiterated that it was still not clear, the tub is clogged and we can't even brush our teeth. She finally sent a repair person but by this time we needed to check out and get breakfast. At no time did the hotel representative offer any bottled water or even sympathize with us. In fact, she insinuated that I was exaggerating since 'no one else' is complaining. My parents and my sister also had rooms here and they had brown water all morning. Not the Hyatt attitude I was accustomed to or expecting. read more

Location, esthetics.
The restaurant was too expensive for the quality of food.
The hotel is beautiful. Loved the Christmas decor (very tasteful). Room was clean and comfortable. Great location, easy to get transportation. Staff was very friendly and professional. Finding the parking garage was a hassle, and having to walk through the plaza with our luggage to find the hotel entrance was not pleasant (since it started to rain). I wouldn't eat at the hotel lounge/restaurant again. It was way too expensive for the quality of the food and drinks that was a real disappointment. Otherwise, great stay. read more

Run down, tired, lack of service personnel.
Safe hotel, but lacking service. The channel changer was broken, the lamp did not work, old damp towel on floor in bathroom when we arrived. Old pizza box sat for days in lobby area outside our room before it was cleaned up. Short on staff. Was not a 4 star, but a nice 3 star.
