Description of Bettoja Massimo D Azeglio
The hotel welcomes its Italian and foreign guests into a building that, regardless of the numerous renovations it has undertaken, has maintained its late century atmosphere and style. The external facade has remained with its original umbertino style while its interiors have undergone various transormations. The Massimo D Azeglio Hotel has hosted those which include the King of Serbia, the ace aviator Francesco Baracca, Benito Mussolini, General Diaz, Louis Armstrong, Pier Paolo Pasolini, Fausto Coppi and Mascagni. The halls, bar and restaurant host an important collection of prints and paintings from the Renaissance period that represent the historical figures which unified Italy. In the spacious lobby hall on the ground floor, near the bar, one can find an autograph of Cavour and a self portrait of D Azeglio along with three of his drawings. A hotel which offers charm and elegance in a historic swelling, where history is witnessed through drawings of the period. Its 197 rooms are all tastefully decorated in traditional style. The Hotel Massimo D Azeglio also offers a Restaurant and a Wine Cellar, renown in Rome. The Wine Cellar -La Cantina- hosts an important collection of wines and can also be reserved for private gatherings whether it be dinner or a wine tasting. Centrally positioned, near the Railway station Termini and underground stop. The location consents easy movement around the city, and the direct airport train, taking you to and from the Leonardo da Vinci Fiumicino airport, is only a short walk away and easily reached from the hotel, also making the hotel ideal for those who come to Rome by train or by air. This convenient location also allows you to visit on foot the National Roman Museum, the Basilica of Santa Maria Maggiore, the Colosseum, the Trevi Fountain, Imperial Forums, and the Opera Theatre. read more

Breakfast included with lots of coffee varieties / location convenient to public transportation.
Staff was friendly, but not entirely helpful / could not control temperature in room.

This hotel offers spacious rooms for a European capital with high ceilings and beautiful parquet floors. The room had everything my wife and I needed: a large, firm bed, clean bathroom, and in-room safe. Every corner of the hotel was clean. Breakfast was included in our rate, and the hotel offered a nice spread of breads, croissants and assorted pastries, cheeses, fruit, cereal, eggs, and breakfast meats. The best part of breakfast was the coffee machine, which grinds fresh coffee beans into espresso, cappuccino, latte macchiato, and other variations. We were very pleased that our room was ready upon our arrival four hours earlier than the official check-in time. Location is very convenient to public transportation less than two blocks to Termini station and access to both metro lines, buses, trams, and trains. If you enjoy walking, you can get to all of Romes central sights, but nothing is right next door. For example, by foot you can get to the Colosseum in 15 minutes, the Roman Forum in 20, and Piazza Venezia in less than 25. read more

Location was convenient for the subway and train station.
Noisy room, old furniture, not even close to a 4-star experience.

The furniture is old, and room has a 2-star feel to it despite the hotels claim of 4-star status. If you like to use the subway and buses to get around Rome it's a convenient location next to the Termini. But for the same money you can probably find nicer accommodations and a friendlier staff. Also, beware that even the hotel lobby computer is pay per use.

Clean, friendly, location great.
Nothing.

We enjoyed our stay. We arrived 10 am tired and were hungry, check in was at 3 pm. They got room ready in one hour, they were very friendly. If they don't understand your English try Spanish, they are delighted.

The location to the bus and train terminal.
The rooms are very outdated, old. And the staff were not friendly or very helpful.

Hotel is situated quite a distance from attractions (20 minutes walk to the Trevi fountain)however, easy to walk to the bus/train terminal and take transit. Hotel should not be considered a 4 star, more like a modest 2.5star. It was clean, but the rooms are very old and non comforting. The bathroom is an OK size, but again, the bathtub, old and the curtains smelled moldy. Breakfast was just OK and front desk staff (the males) during the day didn't provide much help or were not very friendly. read more

It was lovely and the staff was quite helpful with travel arrangements when we asked.
The first 2 days we did not have air conditioning, but it was turned on for the 3rd & 4th day.

Very good experience for our first stay in Rome.

The location was convenient to train and metro station.
The air conditioning did not work properly.

The hotel room was clean and quiet. The air conditioning was not working properly, but luckily the weather was not hot. The room has a mini bar and safe. The breakfast buffet was good.
