security guard present at night.
the pool was green with algea.

The maid service was outstanding! A clean room and fresh bedding everyday while we were out. The breakfast was good each morning too. Very reasonably priced for the one week stay

The hotel was in a very good area and the lobby was very clean.
The house keeping could have been better. There was to days when the room did not get clean.

My stay was very good except for not getting my room clean up for two days. I had breakfast in the hotel and that was very good. The lobby was very clean. I would go back and stay again.

Location.
The carpets were very dirty and the bed linen had stains when I turned on the light. I found this after sleeping on them.

Pleasant to the eye, but not clean.

The decoration of the room.
The hotel was under construction and the entrance was blocked off without signs directing customers to the entrance.

Hotel staff was pleasant; however, the entrance was blocked due to construction. There were no signs directing customers to the entrance and the entrance was dark and out of the way during the day and even more so at night.

The hotel's location is convenient to major interstates.
The free breakfast was horrible.

The location of this hotel is very convenient. However, beware the free breakfast. Mostly all simple carbs - white sugar and white flour, the classic American diet and why many are so overweight. There were hardboiled eggs but they tasted spoiled, so I couldn't eat them. I am generally not that picky, but I don't eat spoiled food. Other than the awful breakfast (can we expect more when it's free?), the hotel was great. At first, we were put into a smoking room, but when we called immediately upon entering the room, we were instantly transferred to another room. Staff seemed friendly and willing to help. read more

Breakfast was great!
The double beds!

The hotel staff was very friendly and cooperative. We made two requests and they were taken care of promptly. Breakfast selection was great. The hotel was very close to a lot of restaurants and grocery stores.

Proximity to highway.
Not a safe area.

Pool was not open, area was unsafe, staff was not very knowledgeable. I would not stay at the La Quinta again in Hampton, VA.

No curtains for window, no drinks in
all vending machines, sad breakfast, smokers room.

Stayed in the La Quinta on Mercury Blvd in Hampton for only one night, thank goodness. Had asked for a non-smoking room but it had ashtrays and was obviously a smoking room. There was only a veil type curtain on the front window and no privacy (at night you would be easily seen with a light on in the room). There were no drinks in any of the vending machines (I checked all three floors). The continental breakfast was just nasty, and the room was grubby in appearance. Worst hotel I've ever stayed in this country. read more
