1st room had mold/mildew smell

The first room we were given had a mold/mildew smell. I advised the front desk clerk of this and she allowed me to check out and select another room. She was very accommodating and apologetic for the situation. We were moved to a room that met our expectations. Although there was a problem, the staff handled it well and completely resolved the problem.

Access to freeway / restaurants.
One side of hotel had scary neighborhood right next to it. Also, doors opened to outside.

Decent hotel and staff was helpful. One side of the hotel had really old houses right next door, and there were questionable people hanging outside working on their cars. Staff was more than willing to change us to other side of hotel that was much safer atmosphere.

Need a Privacy Fence up on the left side of the building.

Overall not as bad as expected when I arrived. Definitely needs to be a one star economy not a two star. Staff was very friendly but the cleaning lady didn't do a very good job. Just made the beds, did not vacuum or clean the bathroom. Very disappointed in the maid service.

The traffic in and out.

I normally like staying at the La Quinta but this location was an exception. There was traffic in and out of the hotel and the element there made us feel unsafe and worried that our truck would be broken into as well as our equipment stolen.
