A "wonderful quiet beach" and a "million-dollar view" are highlights at this "lovely, boutiquey resort" next to Vanderbilt Bay; every room has a balcony and twice-daily maid service, but for some that's not enough to make up for their not-so-large size; still, most love the "first-class" staff and "lovely grounds", which include a tiki bar, waterfall pools and an 18-hole Bob Cupp–designed golf course.

Pool, size of rooms, good amenities, no one goes there, its empty.
Restaurant food caused me food poisoning and to throw up, excessive hidden fees, and is up charge.

The views and the location are fabulous.
It's getting a little tired, charges for resort fee & parking.

For a romantic getaway, the La Playa Beach Resort exceeded our expectations. The view was wonderful, the romantic sunset dinner on the outdoor verandah was delightful, the service at the front desk was excellent and the bathroom amenities terrific.

That it was directly on the beach, parking valet was very good.
Needs new carpeting throughout; musty smell.

Upon check-in, they had ignored our request for a 2 bedroom room and had allocated a 1 bed king even though they had our request for a 2 bed room and did acknowledge. We were, however, finally given a 2 bed after a 3/4 hours wait in the lobby. They forgot to make up our room one day for no apparent reason as we were out of it at 6:00 am.

Loved everything about our stay!

This was a wonderful hotel. The staff was very helpful and friendly. Room was beautifully decorated and spacious. We were upgraded from the standard room to a poolside room to an oceanfront villa just because it was available. Amazing!

Excellent service and cleanliness. Beautiful surroundings.
We did not love staying across Gulf Shore Drive and were not on the beach side and were facing ocean but across the st.

La Playa Beach Resort was everything we expected it to be since it is a 4 star hotel. The room was immaculate, service excellent, resturant excellent and I would highly recommend it.

Luxurious relaxing beachfront, fantastic service.
Isolated location, need a car or taxi for transport.

A first class stay, luxurious beach and fantastic staff made for a very memorable vacation. Looking froward to next year already.
