Historic - and Edgar Allen Poe lived there!
My husband got a rash; my son's asthma was triggered.
Quaint, peaceful, and lovely. Interconnected historic town homes with granite bathrooms. Continental breakfast was ok. Walking distance to Virginia Commonwealth University. $10.50 Valet parking. Edgar Allen Poe played/lived there. Enjoyed our stay and would recommend. Also wonder if there were some special chemical cleaners, mold or dust that could cause reactions?

Very pretty.
Uncomfortable bed! Hotel staff was careless.
It was a very pretty hotel, and clean for the most part. The shower was filthy, we have no idea what was on the bathtub basin. They gave us the wrong room keys the first time. We couldn't get an early check in, and when we arranged for a late check out, they tried to get into our room early- twice. The neighborhood was bad. The offer valet parking, for 10.50 (plus mandatory tip of 3$). They don't tell that you can park on the street for free, but they did tell the lady in front of us in line that her car could be broken into if she left it on the street. The bed was so uncomfortable neither my husband nor I slept more then an hour at a stretch. We read more

Nice historical buildings.
The noise travels thought the floors in the garden rooms.
The hotel has nice staff but they lack attention to detail. The first keys to a room I was given was to a room that was already occupied, lucky for me they were not in their room, the second room had paper thin floors, I could hear every foot step from the room above in this old building, the garden rooms, it was loud. The third room was just right. Finally.

We had a garden room set in a nice courtyard, very quiet.
Lobby smelled very strongly of disinfectant; neighborhood is a bit "iffy"
This is a renovated old building with interesting (but small) rooms and a friendly, helpful staff. It is set at the edge of a rather run-down neighborhood, but close to the capital building. It has a good deal of charm, but seems a little "down-at-heel" Central location is useful, street parking is limited, but valet parking is offered.

Location to Richmond Convention Center.
Not clean, bugs right outside of room that come into room.
This hotel has a rustic appeal that reminds one of the small rooms in Europe. However, with the bugs that come into the room every night, it takes away the appeal. The carpets in the room were filthy. I thought we had purchased a double room, but we received a double bed only. It's not family friendly, no amenities for small children. The staff is exceptional though. They are able to recommend services for nearby establishments. read more
