Relaxing and refreshing.
Strange paintings in the room.
I would recommend this hotel for any occasion in the Quad Cities.

The hotel had an old German hunting lodge theme.
One elevator was noisy.

Wow! The poll area was great.
This was a great historic feeling hotel. I learned during my stay that the man who had this hotel built flew all the builders in from Germany. Also, the staff was beyond helpful.

The hotel lobby is filled with antiques.
The hotel lobby smelled musty the day we arrived.
In its heyday the lodge was a spectacular hotel. Unfortunately, it has not aged as gracefully as it might have. While the rooms have been renovated and the beds are comfortable, the lobby area had a decidedly old and musty smell when we arrived. The smell had either disappeared by morning or we were used to it by then. If you like antiques, this is a good place to stay. If you don't, then I would not recommend it for anything other than the price. read more

Clean room, good bedding/comfort.
Housekeeping staff that cannot speak, or understand English.
Overall, the stay was enjoyable, room clean. The TV is too small for the room, communicating with housekeeping, challenging. Late nights, no availability of desk personnel. Awkward entry door with luggage/cart.

Antique furniture and appointments.
Service only fair.
Overall only a fair rating. The ground floor hallways and various areas were suffering leaking roofs making buckets and trash cans an obstacle course to traverse. The other guests in adjacent and nearby rooms was loud, drunk, and annoying until 2:30 in the am. My wife and I did not enjoy a very romantic get away.

Reasonable price.
Access to room from parking lot.
The rooms were nice. The TV and remote did not work very well. The room was ice cold when we arrived. The buffet breakfast was very good given our room rate. I was surprised that the hotel closed the whole bar room for a private party on a Saturday afternoon and early evening. I probably will never stay there again.

Enjoyed the canopy bed and a coffee maker in the room is always a plus!
If would have been nice to have some fruit or something to nibble on for breakfast.
The hotel is in a convenient location just off the interstate. It's a unique and enjoyable atmosphere. I would without a doubt stay there again and most likely will for next years Bix 7 road race.
