The concierge was the best I've worked with in 25 years.
Parking was very pricey.
Nice bright and airy rooms - great views. Newer, nicely done if somewhat smallish bathrooms. Beautiful common areas and loved the murals.
Can't beat the Top of the Mark for a beautiful sunset and cocktails - our very excellent waiter had been there over 15 years.

Doorman, Bell Hop, Maid, & Wait staff was extremely accommodating, excellent service.
No real complaints except the reservation attendant was a bit stuffy but very cordial and polite.
Overall it was a wonderful experience from the moment we pulled up to the hotel entrance. We were very warmly greeted and my daughter had just sprained her ankle and we were preoccupied with that. Our doorman immediately got us a wheel chair and was very kind and caring. He was wonderful and we were kind of in a state of disarray. Everyone took great pains to ensure we were comfortable and our room was pristine, beautiful and comfortable. This is a very high class hotel with a true "Vintage" appeal. The service was top notch especially the doorman, bellhop, maid, and servers! The view at Top of the Mark as well as the martinis was top notch. I would warn you that the plumbing is vintage and runs hot/cold - but it was fine. Parking is high at $53 - but this kinda goes with the territory. We would stay there again in a heart beat. read more

Stunning views.
Charged extra for all services, including wireless Internet, and even guest business center.
This hotel is a very expensive, old, well-known establishment. Great for business travelers and adults. Not family-friendly. Despite the super high regular price tag, do not expect any extra amenities. Wireless Internet and guest business center are an additional charge. Continental breakfast of juice, coffee, and pastry is by room service only at $19 + $3 delivery fee + 15% gratuity. Sit down breakfast establishments and Starbucks are about 3-4 blocks away. Stayed at this hotel for wedding. Wedding reception was phenomenal including decorations, food, and drinks. read more

On top of Nob Hill. Close to Union Square.
Not sure it worth a 4 star but conveniently close to cable car. Staff friendly. We're able to park bicycles in the garage for free. To enjoy the view, ask for a room on upper stairs.

Location.
Water temperature changed frequently.
Although this hotel had a fantastic location, it was otherwise average. I found it very annoying that the water temperature in the shower changed many times during an average shower.

The elegant furnishings and linens in the room.
The room was a little small.
I did not spend much time in the hotel but thought it was very tasteful with all of the amenities I needed. Very comfortable.
