The staff and the bed.
Layout of the room was weird and location was far away from everything.
The parking fee was $22 per day. When I asked where the nearest public parking deck was (there are many in the historic district), the hotel clerk gave a free parking pass for our stay. This was much appreciated, and made us feel good about the hotel right off. The room was nice, but felt like there were some upgraded things, but did not go the whole mile. The TV was not in front of the bed, but on the side wall, which was awkward. The bed was very comfortable. The toiletries were very nice (Bath and Body Works Aromatherapy). The bathroom had updated counter tops and lighting, but the tub and tile on the floor was outdated and cold. read more

After complaining about the room we were first given old, dirty, noisy, we were finally given a room that had been updated and river front.
Too far from downtown/riverfront to walk. $18/day parking, $13/day internet.
The room was old, dirty, TV hanging from the console, noisy and faced ruins of the city. After complaining, we were told we would have to pay for an upgrade. Finally, we were given a room remodeled and riverfront at no additional charge. We are even Marriott travel members.

It was on the water.
Old and tired for a marriott air conditioning did not work as well.
Much nicer places to stay in savannah, hotel did not have a good bar and they closed early, no coffee early in the morning. The staff however was terrific, making up for the hotel. Rooms were old and tired air condition was sub par and toilet stopped up and had to have someone come and fix it at 11pm.

Location was the best part, close to everything.
The hotel had the best possible location for travelers. It was right on the River Walk where one can easily access the stores, restaurants and bars. The view of the hotel was overall excellent, but I wasn't lucky enough to get a view facing the river, though there was a partial view.

Conveniently right at the end of the tourist strip.
Elevators that rumble all through the night.
