Location.
Staff service.
It was horrible, I had two babies and 5 suite cases and none help me with them.

Cheap, close to Downtown, good food, friendly and helpful staff.
Beds could have been better and would have liked wireless access to computer in my room.
Just a reasonable good overall hotel, for the price.

The room and bed were comfortable.
The location is terrible. It is not in a clean or safe neighborhood. You need to take a taxi to restaurants and stores.
As someone who has generally been satisfied with hotels, I must admit that I was disappointed with Hotel El Batab. My wife and I arrived at about 6:00 pm, but the restaurant was already closed. The neighborhood that the hotel is located in is not well lighted, clean or safe. The staff suggested that we take a taxi to go to the nearest restaurants, which are not far away, but too far to walk to at night given the neighborhood. I suggest that if you want to stay at an economy hotel in downtown Cancun, you choose one that is in a better location. read more

Close to the marketplace.
No swimming pool and in and industrial type zone.
We used the hotels a layover spot to catch an early flight. It is close to the bus station. It is a bare minimum Hotel. They did have a restaurant and the food was both reasonable and very tasty.

The staff was friendly.
It was NOT a 3 star hotel. In the states it would be equivalent to a Motel 6. It was a bad area.
It was NOT a 3 star hotel. In the states it would be equivalent to a Motel 6. It was not well-furnished or comfortable. It was a bad area, there were only shops in the area, and it was a few blocks from the bus station. The staff was friendly and the food downstairs was good though. I was expecting something much nicer.

Clean.
Sparse rooms, and a poor location.
Hotel El Batab is a decent value. If you are wanting a hotel to stay for an extended vacation time in Cancun, I would not recommend it. The location is not great, and even though the rooms are clean and adequate, but they are not of vacation quality. It is a good value for one or two nights, tops.

For the money you can't beat this deal, 3 blocks from R-1 bus to beach or resorts.
Can't complain for the price was easily better value than other hotels and resorts, cheap getaway.
The hotel was near to the main street and lots of shopping. With a short walk of a couple blocks one could be on a bus (the R-1) to the beach/party and hotel zone for under a dollar. Nice local restaurants and tons of inexpensive (yet fun) bars within 2 blocks.
