Tremendous sense of history and the best location possible.
We have stayed here before. The room, we had this time, was on a floor that was a bit dark and unkept and the room was not nearly as nice as the last.

This is a historic hotel that has been impressively renovated to maintain some of the original period feeling. There is a range in size and feeling of the rooms, and because it is an older hotel the rooms that are on the less desirable end of the scale can feel a bit dingy. At the other end of the scale the hotel is a rare treat. The service is stellar, and the restaurant is excellent. read more

Great bed, spacious room, and nice doormen.
No space in bathroom for toiletries; pillows on bed too thick.

This is an elegant hotel with fine beds and decor. There was no swimming pool, and no real restaurant as part of the hotel, but they were adjacent to Starbucks and McCormick and Schmucks.

Lobby and location great.
My room was horrible, stayed before and had great room.

The hotel is beautiful and great location. I hated my room. Last time I stayed at this same hotel, my room was beautiful. I asked at front desk if they had different room types and they said they actually upgraded me which was scary because my room was dirty. I travel every month for business and this was the worst room I've had.

Beautiful, historic decor and friendly, and accommodating staff.
Walls were thin, so noise level from outside / other rooms was a bit high.

The overall atmosphere of the hotel was historic and grand in an old-fashioned, Victorian era kind of way. The staff was friendly and helpful, and overall it was a good place to stay. I have only two real complaints - firstly, the walls of the room seemed a bit thin, because we could clearly hear the people in the next room coughing and talking. We also heard a lot of noise from outside - traffic, and music blaring from car stereos, as well as the music that was part of the Water Fire event outside. My second complaint was that the hotel only offered valet parking, without a self-park option, but this wasn't clearly established by any signage around the hotel. The valet parking also seemed a bit steep, at $24 per night. read more
