Nice grounds. Quiet location away from traffic.
The place was nearly empty, yet they assigned me a room right by the elevator/laundry.

Quiet.
Had to pay for Internet access even as a guest.
Located in an area that is off the beaten path. Registration staff at the hotel did not go out of their way to be helpful at all. They could best be described as efficient. Service in the restaurant was slow but the food was good.

The room was clean.
There was no complimentary breakfast, the bathroom did not have a separate sink area, and the tiles need re-grouting.
For this price, I would have expected a complimentary breakfast. The Quality Inn in Olympia provides and excellent breakfast and is cheaper. Not having a separate sink in the bathroom area made the room hard to share with husband and teenage daughter. The tiles in the shower area needed re-grouting. There were no water glasses or ice bucket in the room; just two bottles of water (there were three of us) priced at $2.00 each. read more

Beautiful lobby, room and helpful staff.
Wooden balconies outside rooms badly in need of repair. Almost unsafe to use.

I appreciated the free and convenient parking.
Noisy and no comfortable chair to sit in.
I have stayed at this motel before and received a quiet room with a comfortable seating area. So, I was disappointed this time when I received a room that had paper thin walls and no easy chair. I was placed across from a family of 5 with young children and a dog. Normally I would enjoy hearing children laughter and not mind the slamming doors and in and out business - that's what kids do, but I went there to have a quiet place to study. I actually did not sleep in the room the first night but went home to sleep. The next day I returned and it was much quieter because the family had checked out. The other thing that bothered me is that when I checked in and I asked where to park and directions to my room, I was told I could park anywhere and to use the lobby door as an entrance. I parked close to the lobby door and entered there. I was loaded down with books and a suitcase and my room was located quite a distance from the lobby entrance. I could have parked closer to my room and a closer entrance and I'm not sure why they didn't provide that information. I re parked after having brought all my stuff in. read more

One of the most delightful and friendly staffs I have ever met.
Vending machines were frequently out of product. Husband diabetic, this helps.
Loved the Red Lion and my husband and I would most certainly use this particular hotel and probably another one in the chain on our next trip. We appreciated their considerations of my husband's health issues (They provided refrigerator for insulin, drinks, and foods necessary for diabetes). They were always very helpful for any needs that arose. Quiet environment was wonderful. read more

The bed was extremely soft and comfortable. The lobby and interior was beautiful.
There happened to be a dog show happening in the parking lot outside our room very early in the morning which woke and kept us up.
Overall, I would recommend this hotel. I was very comfortable, was impressed with the interior decor and the service staff was friendly and helpful. However, you may want to inquire about any special events taking place at the hotel before you stay for leisure on a weekday. My partner and I were woken at 6 am on a Monday morning while trying to sleep in by a loud group of dog show participants. The hotel is often used for business events, so I expect this could happen again if others are not wary. read more
