Inexpensive, close to bus lines, and was straight shot to the bay.
Room was smallish, but was comfy.

The Red Lion is close to several bus lines and a 10 minute ride to the tourist area of Victoria. The rooms are smaller than average, but reasonably comfortable. The bar under the hotel went unexplored this trip, but the parking lot got a bit loud for a few minutes around closing time, but hotel security was on top of it without being asked. The liquor store in the building (but not in the hotel, strange setup) was an interesting if not welcome touch. All in all, a decent hotel at a great price. I will be back. read more

I was not happy with the hotel. I did not feel safe during my stay in leaving the hotel.

I cannot think of any.
The smell of the food in the restaurant invaded our room to the point where I could not sleep.

the food smell situation prevented me from seing any good thing about the Red Lion.

It was fine for the price and met our needs. It was a bit away from the main Victoria area, so you would definitely need a car to get there. We didn't feel like the area was bad like some of the reviewers did.

Too far from downtown Victoria but it was on a convenient bus line.

The value of the room was very good. The location was about a 45 minute walk to downtown Victoria but was on a very convenient bus line. The room had wifi which was very helpful and there were 2 computers in the lobby for guests to use. The Jade Garden restaurant downstairs was very convenient and had delicious food and good service.
