Clean, modern, and convenient location.
Parking is NOT free!

I've never been to a hotel where parking was not free for hotel guests. I was not made aware of this when I checked in. Fortunately for us, the parking garage was not open for public parking the date I went but supposedly it costs $10.00 to park each time I believe - amazing!

Location and star level. Very nice hotel.
Asked for fridge and it took all day and then some.

Very professional staff. Everyone was friendly and helpful. Don't think they should charge $10 a day for a fridge since it is an expensive hotel.

Great location on the waterfront, and beautiful view from the room.
Panhandlers/homeless persons in the surrounding area - did not feel safe walking after dark.

The room was much nicer than we expected, and the hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. Although the restaurant was closed, we received excellent recommendations for dining nearby. The water view from the room was spectacular, and we enjoyed being able to walk and jog along the waterfront. We'll definitely make a point of staying there again!

Great location, clean, kept up nicely.
Can be pricey.

We visit Portsmouth several times a year for a concert at the Ntelos Pavilion. This is our favorite hotel in Portsmouth. The location is great - walking distance to the Pavilion, restaurants, and Old Towne Portsmouth. All rooms have a nice view.

Nice lobby and entrance.
The room smelled liked old cooking oil.

It was okay. I did expect better for the price. The bathtub had chipped enamel. The rust spots were visible.

I liked the view and the location on the water.
I was sorry the rooms were not wired for the internet.

Check in at the Renaissance Portsmouth was kind of slow. The hotel is located on the Elizabeth River. We've stayed there twice, and, as far as I can tell, all rooms have a beautiful view of the water. The beds are comfortable, especially the comforters. It's a shame that the rooms are not wired for the internet. Guests must log in on the first floor, and even with the hotel's password, the hotel's internet did not work for us. We had to pay $10/day for parking. read more

Perfect location for the area I needed to stay. Excellent quality. Perfect hostesses.
Complicated new TV system for viewing free channels.

This is an excellent hotel, close to Norfolk, Virginia Beach and other small cities in the Hampton, VA area. Staff is helpful. There is lots of things to visit. Portsmouth has some of the oldest historic houses this side of the Atlantic. Beautiful port city.
