Royal Olympic Hotel

It's a great hotel with a great location.

Breakfast was served from 7-10 am. We arrived at 9:30 and most of the buffet was cleaned out by that point. I asked several time if more food was going to be brought out and I was told yes. This never happened. Disappointing for a 5-star hotel. Earlier on our trip we stayed at the Westin Astir in Athens (a true 5-star and this never happened there).

This hotel was ok, if it were not for our experience with our first hotel room. We were both woken up several times by constant drilling on our floor, and by strong paint fumes. We requested another room and were met with very little enthusiasm to accomodate our wishes. I had to propose a solution, and met resistance until I finally had to put my foot down.

Although many would not characterize this hotel as five star by American standards, I had no complaints whatsoever. The front desk, operator, and restaurant staff were helpful and efficient and the facilities are certainly comfortable and serene. There is even a 120v electrical outlet in the room "for our American guests."

As you walk in the hotel you are amazed by the beautiful lobby. The rooms though are substandard for the hotel's supposed star rating. I would not say that the hotel is more than a 3 star hotel. The staff itself is extremely rude and unaccomidating. I would not book this hotel again.

This hotel exceeded my expectations. We were warmly greeted by the doorman and quickly ushered to the check in desk. The desk clerk was warm, friendly and courteous, which continued throughout our stay. We had arrived early by two hours, well before check in, but experienced no delay whatsoever in being shown to our room. The room was lovely, clean and spacious. It looked exactly like the pictures shown on the website. The location could not have been more perfect. The hotel is directly across the street from the Temple of Zeus. We were within a few steps of Plaka, and a short pleasant walk to the Acropolis. The only cab I took in two days was from the airport and to our cruise ship. The hotel's location made it possible to walk everywhere. It is also very close to a subway station so going to places like the amazing Museum was easy and affordable. I would definitely stay at this hotel again, and will recommend it to my friends. Also the top floor is undergoing some renovation to add a rooftop restaurant. With the hotels amazing location this will be a real bonus in the future.

Great location. Great breakfast. Staff was snobby, room was the smallest I'd ever seen at this star level. 2 single beds pushed together, but they were made up as 2 singles instead of using a bottom sheet that would cover both. Shower curtain did not reach the side of the tub, so you could not shower without soaking the marble floor (which then became a ridiculous slip hazard).

We loved the decor, the cleanliness, the wonderful personnel and in the evenings in the lovely pool area they had piano music for the people who were sitting around the area with friends sipping on their drinks.
