Great value, walking distance of the river, which Reno has developed as a charming community style resource.

The rooms were very spacious, and cheap.
The beds and pillows were very hard.
This hotel was the cheapest we could find in Reno. We got hung up in traffic and didn't arrived until midnight. I liked how the parking garage elevator dropped you right at the check in desk. The desk clerk ranted at us a bit because we hadn't followed their queue line rope properly, but come on, my eyes were barely open! It wasn't far to the elevators to our room (most casinos have you wander all through the casino before you get to your room). We got adjoining rooms, and were surprised at how big they were, and pleasantly decorated (if somewhat dated). The beds seemed really hard to us. Made me want a mattress pad or something. The kids were thrilled with the big beds that they didn't have to share, but even they complained that most of the pillows were too hard. We were directly across from the housekeeping elevator, and they were very noisy when they came up to the floor before 8:00 am. It was cheap enough that I would stay again, but I might ask for a room in the other tower (above Mel's) I hear the beds are a bit softer over there. read more

The restaurant.
It's a worn out dump!
The Sand's is a comp[lete piece of crap! What a tired, worn out dump. It should have been remodeled years ago.

Large room with nice furnishings.
Trouble controlling the temperature.
Hotel located in a casino, which is fine if that is what you want.
