The hotel is older which was very quaint and we got the feel of what a luxury hotel was back when- had glass door knobs
and high ceilings, beautiful wood staircases. The hotel remodeled to modernize the bathroom. The room and hotel was very clean. The staff was pleasant and helpful.

It is a great classic old hotel.
It has turned into an economy tourist hotel.

History and grandeur.
Broken toilet and hairdryer and ironing bord.
Nice enough but most of the appliances were shoddy or didn't work, including the ice machine on my floor.

Location, friendly and efficient staff. Very clean rooms. Beds were very comfortable.
This hotel is located in the heart of Union Square in San Francisco. The the concierge and individual who helped me to my room was exceptionally kind and very sincere in their efforts to help with directions and advice. The bellman remembered me by name in the hotel lobby after meeting me just one time - this stands out in the world of in and out hotels. The room was very clean and the beds were very comfortable. read more

Location
No business center.
Love the Kimpton hotels, this one had a great location. I wish it had a business center though, but was glad it provided online access at no additional charge.

Very convenient location. Nice in-hotel access to restaurant.
Slower elevators.
This is a good moderately priced and conveniently located hotel. I would have appreciated a coffee maker in the room. The staff is friendly. There aren't as many elevators as I would like. Overall a good place to stay though it lack some of the upscale modern features of many newer hotels. I asked for a room on a lower floor when I arrived. They gave me a room on floor 9 with the proviso I understood it was suitable for handicapped access. It was a little odd to have the sink in the entry way and I don't know how anyone would have bathed in the tub if they were handicapped. Maybe they needed a floor to ceiling shower instead. read more

The bar in the lobby was nice.
The room was literally disgusting and small.
Do not stay here. It was terrible. The room was tiny, there was wallpaper literally peeling off the walls in the room. The windows were old and painted shut. The floor did not look clean. It was $44 for the valet and he took my bag and told me he would bring it to my room. 4 hours later I was still calling trying to locate my bag which I finally received 4.5 hours after check-in. All in all, a complete disaster. I did move to the Parc 55, through Priceline, after one night and it was much, much better. More of the norm for what I would expect a 3.5 star to be. read more

Entrance, lobby.
Let the staff knows five times that my refrigerator was broken.
Everyone was very nice, the rooms were dated. When you request to have something looked at (refrigerator) five time in five day span, something is wrong.

Excellent location. It does not get better than this.
I did not like the bright yellow and blue stripes on the walls.
Sir Francis Drake is a very upscale and prestigious hotel. I've always noticed it with their valet standing out front dressed in attire that appears straight from the medieval era. The hotel lobby is very luxurious and spacious. Hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. The bar in the middle of the lobby is trendy and a fun place to have a drink. Be sure to check out the Starlight Room at the top of the hotel for a few fun drinks and impressive views. read more
