Since its inception in 1886 and right up until the 1920s, the hotel and its former restaurant were important meeting points for the most prominent members of society. The hotel is extremely proud of its illustrious history and the many famous guests and visitors it has welcomed through its doors, a list that includes important Spanish political figures, musicians and figures from show business and literature, both Spanish; such as José Echegaray, winner of the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1904, and international, such as Virginia Woolf. read more

Convenient location near Metro, tourist sites, and restaurants.
Proximity to several bars required keeping windows closed at night to minimize noise.

The Ingles is a very reasonable for budget conscious tourist, business or family travel in Madrid. It provides easy access to the wonderful Madrid Metro, tourist sites, museums and restaurants. Sounds for the emptying bars can usually be heard at late night and may require closing the double window sets to ensure quiet. Amenities are sparse, but this is sound choice.
