The Barcelo Avenida offers an excellent location in the city of Bilbao, next to the Begonas Basilica, a few minutes from the Guggenheim Museum and only 12 minutes from the airport, so it is strategically situated close to all the major sights and attractions, as well as the business and financial districts. The Hotel was totally refurbished in 2004. All guest rooms are elegantly furnished to create a welcoming environment in which to relax. Furthermore each room provides our clients of all modern facilities. The Hotel has just opened a new section with top of the line furniture and amenities for business and leisure travellers. In the Hotels restaurant, Saraste, a selected variety of International and Basque cuisine, combined with a superb wine list, will please the most demanding gourmets. Moreover, the latest technology is available in our Cyber Corner, a place where guests can surf the Internet. Using Wireless, faster speed is available throughout the hotel. Sports can be practised in the Barcelo Avenidas Fitness Center and next Autumn, a spa will be opened in order to extend a wide range of spare time facilities. Staff person spent 10 minutes marking a map of sites and restaurants for us to see.
The spa closed very early on Sunday.

Customer service from staff was very high, and the room was excellent - features we value most. Our experience with Barcelo at other locations in the world confirms our belief that Barcelo is a very classy company who has a keen understanding that customer satisfaction is the epicenter of their success.

Very clean and gleaming - comfy beds and great bathroom/shower.
Room smaller, but decor and cleanliness made up for it.

We used it for the night before a long trip back to the states - they have a very nice restaurant, sandwich bar, and outdoor seating, which was important as we didn't have time to go out searching for restaurants. Location somewhat isolated from Balboa old town, but we had already done the Guggenheim and old town. Would recommend it knowing that you would have to cab or Metro to the sights of Bilbao. read more
