Mostly the city location.
The Hotel has been sold thus the rooms are very sub standard. Furniture is scratched and finish coming off, the carpeting was torn and spotted. Even though we had reservations since July of 2007 to arrive November 29 thru December 5, halfway they wanted to move the other couple (M/M Steven Szucs) to another Hotel as they were over booked. Luckily I had my confirmation copy with me and we refused. Overall we were very disappointed in the hotel and it was described like an elegant place that turned out to be a run down 4-star wannabe. We hope that you do not recommend this hotel to anyone again. I will have to do more research before I book another stay through you. read more

Luxurious setting; helpful staff.
Slightly out of the way location (but with good public transportation access)
Great hotel with good amenities. Staff was very professional and helpful at all times. While the hotel is outside of the city center, public transportation is easy. For example, the bond express tour bus stops right in front of the hotel and the bus ride to the CBD takes about 20 minutes. Also, try the boat ride to circular quay to double bay -- great way to experience the stunning setting. read more

The staff was gracious and accommodating.
Definitely not a five star hotel, as per your advertising of it.
This was a private, safe hotel, in a nice area of town (although definitely not the center of town). However, this hotel is far from being a 5 star hotel.
