Location, internet, breakfast.
Not especially clean or nice; lack of attention to detail.

I found the Sundowner Inn to be passable as a 2-star hotel, but in no way near the standard I've experienced with other 2.5-star hotels. The room was basically clean and appropriately furnished. But it completely lacked the niceties of a 2.5-star hotel, and it had a few detractions: sheets are not fitted; some noise from the nearby highway; smoke and noise coming under the door to the adjacent room; my desk chair seat bottom was broken, such that I would sink into the chair (very uncomfortable). Internet is free, but wired instead of wireless. Breakfast was free, and decent, but not spectacular. I don't think anyone looking for a 2-star hotel will be disappointed with the Sundowner, but you should pay a 2-star price. read more

The location was good, very close to the freeway.
The curtains would not close tightly; I had to use a clamp to hold it closed.

The place is a little run down and the neighboring restaurant had been closed for some time. The overall facility wasn't bad and reasonably clean. It is definitely much better than the very low rating provided by other reviewers. The breakfast was $5 which is reasonable for what you got. My only complaint is the first evening I was looking for something to eat at about 11 pm since I had not eaten dinner. I asked at the front desk but they indicated that it was too late. The next morning, I found a Denny's and a Carl's Jr within about two blocks from the hotel that opened late. read more

Nothing.
Restaurant was being renovated, stinky hotel.

I would not recommend this hotel to anyone. It was overpriced. This hotel was not even as good as the motel 6 that I paid 39 dollars for. Hope they will do better.

Nice breakfast.
Needs to be updated.

Good place to stay to catch a flight out of San Jose airport. The staff is friendly and helpful. The continental breakfast was great including hot food, various fruit and breads etc.

The suite that I stayed in.
The couch did not pull out into a bed.

I read some pretty scary reviews about this hotel. I called the Sundowner Inn and spoke to the manager who assured me 2 adults and 3 small children would be ok for the room selected and that I would not be charged for 3 small children. I got to the hotel, the owner was there. He said I could not stay there because there were five of us. It was only when I got really upset that they put me in a suite for $50.00 more. The suite was really nice and clean except for some ants. I did not see the regular rooms. I had to specify that I did not want any maids coming into our room when we were there per other bad reviews on this hotel. The owner said I had to put a do not disturb sign outside the door. That is strange to me. I did not care for the owner at all and the manager is nice but seems very nervous around the owner which is also strange. There were five of us with one king bed. The couch did not pull out into a bed so at 11pm we had to call for a cot. read more

Everything.

Avoid this dump. The restaurant next to it is closed down. Half of the lights for the hotel sign were burned out or broken.
