Description of Super 8 Carbondale
The Carbondale Pride of Super 8 is located on IL Rt 13 directly across from the University Mall and two miles from Southern IL University. The Carbondale Super 8 is conveniently located 2 miles from Southern IL University and only 4 miles from John A. Logan Community College. There are many restaurants within a 1 mile radius and some within walking distance. There are numerous fishing and skiing lakes in the area and the Shawnee National Forest is 10 miles away. The beginning of the very impressive wine trail is only 10 miles from the property. The Carbondale Super 8 provides the Super Start Plus breakfast also featuring Free High Speed Wireless Internet in all rooms. Rooms with micro-fridge and coffee makers are available. We are a completely smoke free facility and pride ourselves on our clean well appointed rooms and our friendly helpful staff. read more

The room was clean and orderly.
There was no TV remote and the desk clerk was not helpful.

The water pressure in the shower was minimal. The electrical outlet near the sink in the restroom did not work, thus the hair dryer was not functional and my wife's traveling hair dryer could not be used in front of the mirror. One door key (plastic card) worked on the outside door but not on the room door. Fortunately the other did let us into the room. The room was for the disabled; not having a TV remote could have been a problem. read more

Close to SIU, food, and shopping.
Automatic $1.50 room safe fee (that can be removed upon request).

We try to stay here first because of proximity to SIU, food and shopping and because of price. It doesn't have all the amenities of a newer hotel, but we are on the go so much that we aren't really in the room for much more than sleeping.
