The nightly happy hour at the lobby bar/lounge - great drinks and drink specials.
My room was the size of a small closet, with very poor lighting and a horrible view. The bathroom was very small and poorly ventilated.
The amenities offered at this hotel were definitely 4-star, and great - a restaurant, wine cellar, and bar/lounge; concierge, room service, etc, however the room itself was less than desirable and could be likened to that of a Motel 6. I rented a car for my trip and utilized the Valet parking for $29 per night - it was well worth it considering how sparse parking is in this area. read more

Love the beds and the friendliness of the staff.
Bathrooms are small.
The Benson has a good reputation for service and attention to detail. The staff is exceptionally trained. Professional stay here as well as business travelers. The lobby is beautiful and has live jazz playing most nights.

Beautiful & luxurious.
Room was a little small, but we weren't planning to stay indoors, bonus was it was quiet.
The Benson is stunningly beautiful, great service, wonderful bar in the lobby with live jazz. Our room was a little small, but we weren't planning to spend much time in it so didn't matter too much.

Convenient location and right in the heart of Portland.
Old mattress, problems with tub, no microwave/fridge and only basic cable.
The hotel lobby was beautiful. I'm sure there are beautiful rooms in the hotel.

Loved the old style decor. Very comfortable. Great location. Free wireless a bonus!
Can't think of anything.
Overall it was a very enjoyable experience. The staff were friendly and helpful. The free wireless was a fantastic surprise and came in handy doing searches for thing to do and see. The room was nice with some nice small touches: fluffy, large towels, robes and slippers, umbrella (it is Portland) and a few extra amenities in the bathroom. It is an old style hotel, so if you want the ultra modern boutique hotel, this may not be for you. read more

The service was exceptional starting at curbside greeting.
Old history interesting, be sure to ask for history information at front desk staff, very helpful. Gorgeous lobby to relax. Previous stays had a fabulous Sunday brunch. Live music on Saturday nights. It's a great place!

The concierge was extremely friendly and helpful.
No cream for the coffee, new radios are hard to work, coffee in lobby is pulled at 8:00 am.
Love the location, and the refurbishment of this older building is quite lovely. Great service!
