Description of The Dunhill Hotel
- Designed by architect Louis Asbury- Sr.- The Dunhill opened in 1929 as the fashionable Mayfair Manor apartment hotel. Half of the original 100 rooms were rented by permanent tenants- including prominent doctors; the hotel thrived even during the Great Depression. Fully restored in 1987 and most recently in 2004- the ten story Dunhill Hotel is a landmark in the citys arts and cultural district- its refined architecture with neo-classical embellishments adding a distinctive shape to the Charlotte skyline. The lobby and guest rooms feature elegant 18-century European furnishings- hand-sewn draperies and four-poster beds. The penthouse retains its original marble floor and double balconies offering beautiful views of the city. The penthouse was fully renovated in July 2003. Uptown Charlotte on the corner of 6th Street and North Tryon- in the heart of the arts and cultural district. Discovery Place Science Museum- Mint Museum of Craft and Design- Spirit Square Center for the Arts and North Carolina Blumenthal Performing Arts Center are all within walking distance. read more

The location was close to our son's college and Downtown Charlotte which has wonderful entertainment and dining.
We purchased an upgraded room with spa shower, the water never got hot! We did not get complimentary breakfast and they tried to bill us again at check.

It was out anniversary coupled with a visit to our son's college - so I purchased an upgraded room with spa shower, while beautiful the water never warmed up enough to make it relaxing or enjoyable. There were complimentary services extended - breakfast and shoeshine. Our breakfast was delicious but not complimentary. The shoeshine was not performed the first night there but they did do a wonderful job on them the second night. We had an express checkout letter placed under our door with our name but someone else's address and a lower rate, thinking it was just a typo we stopped by the desk to discuss our bill. We went to a farewell breakfast at our son's college and returned later to check out. The manager was there then and admitted that we should have never received the bill. read more

Treated very well by all employees.
Limited room configurations (limited two-bed rooms for older chldren).

We had a very pleasant stay at the Dunhill. It is very quaint due to its history and nice renovation. It's location is very convenient to downtown destinations. All staff was very friendly, welcoming and accommodating. I would definitely stay at the Dunhill again!

It is on the historical registry and is very beautifully restored.
The parking garage was not well marked and we drove around the one-way streets for 1/2 hour.

It is located in the heart of downtown Charlotte. Many restaurants, pubs and events are within walking distance of the hotel. The staff was exceptional and the room was beautiful!

Convenient to everything Downtown. A great spot.
Noise from the outside, but we did choose to be right in the middle of the action.

Everyone was friendly and couldn't do enough to make us feel welcome. They were all very accommodating. We were there for the ACC Tournament and the hotel was ideal for getting to and from the Bobcat Arena. We will definitely stay at the Dunhill when traveling to Charlotte.
