Description of The Edgewater
DECOR / DESIGN: Avant-garde Pacific Northwest lodge meets luxurious, full-service boutique hotel. The Edgewater, an upscale waterfront urban retreat, combines equal parts - rustic and contemporary. The property plays on the earths elements by utilizing a mix of natural stone and wood with stainless steel and glass. In the lobby, guests can relax fireside and enjoy majestic views of sunsets and the Olympic Mountain range through two-story picture windows. CONCEPT: Built in 1962 for the Worlds Fair, it has become a Seattle landmark and icon. Romantic fireplaces, breathtaking views of the Olympic Mountains, and soothing breezes from Elliott Bay transform The Edgewater into a sleek sanctuary of Northwest luxury. The Edge is an inviting place to relax, refresh, and explore the sights and sounds of Seattle. ACCOMMODATIONS: With guestrooms offering stunning views of Elliott Bay or sparkling views of the city skyline, The Edgewater offers two distinct experiences. A wide range of room types are available, and guestrooms offer the following features: Hand-crafted knotty pine furniture River rock fireplaces Overstuffed chairs and a signature bear footrest Ralph Lauren bedding and turndown service Personal care items and bath amenities (complete with rubber ducky!) Mini bar and in-room coffee service with Starbucks Coffee Data port phones with voicemail and high-speed wireless internet 42 Plasma HDTV with cable Specialty Suites: The Beatles Suite Experience The Edge Beatles style, in Room 272 Photo gallery of the Fab Four, CD player with Beatles CDs British Invasion bed, featuring a tall head board made of tree branches draped in the Union Jack Three panoramic windows offer full views of Elliott Bay The Penthouse Ultimate luxury in The Edgewaters premium suite Split-level, loft-styled suite with over 1,000 square feet of living space Master bedroom: 4-poster king bed, French doors, 42 Plasma HDTV Bathroom includes oversized shower with two shower heads and Jacuzzi tub Private deck with chaise lounge and Adirondack chairs Full views of Elliott Bay from all rooms HISTORY: Since its commissioning for the 1962 Worlds Fair, The Edgewater has engaged guests with a unique and naturalistic Seattle experience. The hotel continues to evolve, reaffirming its position as a progressive property that adjusts to each new era. The hotel has and will always be, on The Edge. The Edgewater has welcomed numerous celebrities throughout the years, perhaps the most famous of whom were The Beatles. Staying at the hotel during their first world tour in 1964 they were rushed back to the hotel after the show in an ambulance, while taxi cabs and stand-ins were used as decoys. The Fab Four fished from the window of room 272, the photograph of which has become famous. Since then, the hotel has accommodated many iconic rock bands including Led Zeppelin and the Rolling Stones. read more

It's all about "the views, the views, the views" at this "coolest little spot in Seattle" that hangs over Elliott Bay and offers "beautiful" Puget Sound panoramas ("get a waterside room"); service is "uncommonly friendly" and the "small" quarters – with "fantastic fireplaces, fuzzy bear footrests" and "wonderful tubs" – are "quite charming in their Ralph Lauren/Paul Bunyan way"; even if foodies fret over the "limited dining choices", others eat up the fact that "Led Zep and the Beatles both stayed here."

Our room was hanging over the water of Puget Sound. Stunning!

From the moment we pulled up to the valet parking, on to registration where we were given an ocean view room, to entering the room everything was splendid. The staff are friendly & helpful. The rooms clean & well appointed. A most pleasurable experience.

Alpine motif.
Wasn't completely remodeled, i.e. extingisher boxes were old, back stairs etc.
