"Portland's rainy weather is made more hospitable" by this "gorgeous, gracious" Downtown hotel designed by Candra Scott and Richard Anderson, who also fashioned Houston's Hotel Icon; the "historic" 1909 premises include a "Lewis and Clark–themed lobby, complete with logs crackling in the fireplace", "comfy rooms" and "helpful" employees; P.S. Jake's Grill, with its Pacific NW cuisine, "puts the happy in happy hour."

Large rooms and friendly staff.

This hotel was fantastic and met our requirements. There's a Starbucks in the lobby and that menu is on room service. Located in downtown Portland, it is easy to walk just about everywhere and free public transportation is nearby.

Beautiful furnishings, historical hotel.
Minor issue but it was hot that weekend, use/access to a pool would have been nice.

Elegant, old-world hotel. You get the feeling of being in a storied place with it's beautiful original and reproduction features. Thoughtful modernization while maintaining the original character.
