The "elegant", "old Southern" atmosphere makes guests "feel like Rhett Butler" at this "former grande dame", set in a "historic" 1853 property within "easy walking distance" to local attractions; an "accommodating staff", "excellent" dining (including a notable Sunday brunch and a "fun bar with live music") and a "fabulous" "rooftop pool and terrace" make up for generally "small" rooms.

Location
Exspensive parking.

This hotel was in an excellent location. It was easy to walk to everything. The staff was friendly. The parking was expensive. $20.00 at county garage next door or $23.00 valet. When I asked at check-in about on street parking the staff didn't know. I also found one block down parking at a flat rate of $6.00 which I think the staff should know about, and would be an option for people checking in. read more

The staff were very accomodating and friendly.
The bed was not very comfortable for this level of quality hotel. We enjoyed our stay, but did not sleep well.

We booked this hotel through Priceline for two nights. Due to the lack of sleep the first night, we decided to leave early. Trash trucks were picking up directly below our windows and the mattress was very uncomfortable.

Fabulous location.
No nibble snacks in the bar, we were hungry after a candle light tour.

Great location, interesting lobby and bar area. Room was clean and comfortable. Great value for the price.

The hotel was beautiful, clean, convenient and had a lot to offer as far as restaurants/things to do.
The suite was a little small, but was still a great room.

This hotel is a beautiful hotel in the middle of historic downtown Charleston. The location couldn't be better! The staff was friendly and helpful and upgraded us to a suite, which was nice. The room was nice. It was very comfortable, but a little small. Well decorated, quiet and comfortable.

The location of this hotel was fantastic; very pretty from afar.
Having to pay $20+ per night to park my car at a hotel I paid to stay at.

I was very irritated that when I went to the hotel lobby for a cup of coffee that I was charged for it. When did a luxury hotel stop offering their guests a cup of coffee at 8 am on a Saturday morning?
