A "place of legends" where every sitting U.S. president since Herbert Hoover has stayed, this "magical" veteran has a "glorious" art deco lobby that's an "all-time favorite" of many; the "attentive staff" makes you feel "like a prince while walking in the footsteps of kings", but "rooms vary" so much – from "woeful to wonderful" – that some guests wonder if it's "surviving on its name alone"; P.S. a $60-million renovation and the addition of a Guerlain spa may help "recapture the glory."

Banquet facilities excellent, food at banquet excellent.
Extremely cold small room, been in nicer Super 8's.

Room was cold when I got there, called engineering and they sent someone up. He turned off the heat and left. The room never got warm. Room was small, even by New York standards. Bill was incorrect, overcharged for several items including my $14.00 three page fax. Shower did not work properly. Banquet/meeting facilities excellent. Lunch at the meeting was one of the best I have had at any Meeting. Beautiful common areas and generally a very helpful staff. Property is tired and needs an update. Overall not a good value for a luxury property. read more

The history of the Building.
Space constrants.

Beautiful hotel, but not breath taking. The room was nice but a horrible noise from the air conditioner kept us awake both nights. Very clean. A bit off the beaten path which for sight seeing was a hike at times. There was no space in the bathroom near the sink to place our toiletries.

Location.
Rooms dated, furnishing very basic.

I love the location of this hotel but was very disappointed of the room. The room was very dated and basic. Kitchen area had nothing escept small refrigerator, no coffee maker, etc. The sofa was sagging. The bed was nice but old fashioned air conditioning unit was noisy. Overall I would not recommend to anyone.
