Convenient to tourist areas in Madrid.
Breakfast was very expensive without a package plan - 20 euros.
The hotel was very nice, and right across the street was a terrific little tavern serving tapas and cold beer.

The hotel was in an excellent location, a 5-10 minutes walk to Plaza
de Sol and lots of shopping.
The mattress wasn't the best but it was the only hotel in Spain that didn't just push two twins together.
The hotel was much nicer than expected and from previous reviews. The location is amazing, close to everything. Close to at least 3 subway stops and all the main attractions in Madrid. The hotel has a lot of rooms but instead the floors are wooden and the bathrooms are 4 star to resort level. Very clean.

Proximity to everything, nice size rooms and clean.
Trash dumping at early AM hours on street.
Trip Ambassador is a well-located, nicely-maintained top quality hotel in the Centro district of Madrid, close to everything, including several different Metro stops (Santa Domingo, Opera and Sol). Helpful and courteous staff, safe all hours of the day and night.

The location was the best thing about this hotel - very convenient.
I expected a little more for 4 stars - apparently Europe and US four star level differ.
The hotel was conveniently located to all the main attractions. However, I was a little disappointed in the overall room. I expected a little more for 4 stars. However, do not get me wrong. I would still recommend this hotel overall especially the location.

The staff was very friendly and helpful.
The drunks outside on the sidewalk.
The air conditioner in the room was very noisy. The room itself was very large and nice.

Excellent location.
Poor service, outdated room decor, no iron in room, poor elevator.
The hotel is in an excellent location. However, it does not merit four stars. The room was large; however, the decor was outdated. Same for the bathroom: Large with marble floors but outdated bath tub/shower head and counter tops. The service was decent, but not what you would expect at a four star hotel.

Location to old city.
Trying to sell upgrade, rooms, meal packages.
The hotel was fine - although I do not think it really qualifies as 4 star. The staff were ok but upon our arrival immediately attempted to sell us an upgrade. In addition they informed us that the phone card to call US did not operate on the pay phone in the lobby - which was not true. All that said all the staff were very good at giving directions to places of interest, had plenty of maps available and all spoke pretty good English. read more

The hotel setting is beautiful.
The staff provided the worst service I ever experienced.
Overall, I liked the setting of the hotel, but the staff was not courteous and very unfriendly. In addition, I was asked to pay an additional room rate for both nights because they said my room was booked for two people, when we were a group of four. This was an additional expense I did not anticipate, and the manner the receptionist handled it was extremely poor. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone for this reason. read more

Location and interior courtyard.
Small rooms, moldy smell in bathroom.
It was an OK stay but it is not a 4 star hotel. Good location - steps away from metro.
