Hotel Guest Reviews of the Barcelo Edinburgh Carlton Hotel
Our hotel ratings and reviews are from real hotel guests. Priceline.com ensures that its reviews are guests-only by proactively sending hotel surveys to customers after they've completed their hotel stays. In the post-stay surveys, priceline.com hotel customers are asked a number of questions about their stay and the hotel. On a scale of 1-10 with 10 being the best, the survey asks guests to rate their overall experience and specifically rate the hotel's cleanliness, staff and location. Priceline.com does not allow site visitors to post unsolicited hotel reviews.July 8, 2007

The hotel was very clean both in the room and the hotel facilities. They had a great athletic club with classes, weight equipment, cardio equipment and pool. We were not able to use it, but were given a tour of the facilities. We particularly liked the convenient location to the old town of Edinburgh and the train station.

The noise from the street went on all night, into the next morning and then restarts with the street cleaners and early morning deliveries. Both nights we stayed we got very little sleep.

I was very disappointed. The elevators and hallway rugs appeared run down. The room was a shoebox and the bed sagged significantly in the middle from wear. There was dirt in the corners of the bathroom and in the tiles. I would not stay at this hotel again or recommend it to my friends. My husband and I ended up spending as little time in the room as possible and were happy we only had to stay there one night. The only saving graces for this hotel is its location, its very proximate to the train station and prince street. Also the bathroom was a decent size.
