Charing Cross - A Guoman Hotel (Formerly Thistle)

Charing Cross has very attractive public areas, and comfortable, quiet rooms. Hot water was unreliable, and 2 out of 5 days we had luke warm to cool showers. Housekeeper was asked daily for extra towels, soap, etc. Toilet paper roll was left completely empty one day, there was a lack of attention to detail one would expect at a 4 star hotel. Great staff, great location, clean, and no pool on site.

A lovely old hotel with attractive architecture. The room was larger than most hotels in this area and fully equipped with coffee maker, iron and ironing board and mini bar. The hotel staff was friendly, courteous and helpful.

3 star upscale/4 star moderate hotel with clean facilities and excellent location in central London. Location is next to the subway and within walking distance of several restaurants, cafes and some of London's attractions. Good for business clients and vacationers seeking to explore London.

In my opinion there are two things that must be first rate; the bed and the bathroom. Here the bathroom was excellent, new, modern and stylish as was the rest of the room but the beds, like a bag of marbles. I had to sleep on a single mattress on the floor in my junior suite as the double (which was two singles crudely zipped together) was far too uncomfortable to sleep on.

Our first trip to the UK. This hotel was much the same as every thing else in the country. Way over priced at least in relation to the US. But once you you except sticker shock, the hotel was very clean, old, but well maintained. Its location was exceelent for sites of interest, transport, shopping, and dining alternatives. I would stay again once the exchange rate becomes realstic. read more
