The ghost tour was great!
False advertising.

The staff was not helpful at all-if you had a question or needed information it was hard to get a complete answer from them. We found that we were answering the questions of other hotel guests, since the staff was too busy/rude to help them! The hotel itself was beautiful and the ghost tour (which is not run by the hotel) was fantastic!

Historic and architectural character of the hotel.
Lack of cleanliness of the room.

This hotel has character but due to its age and the poor attempts at updating over the years fails to uphold the historical character of the building; i.e. the exposed wiring and plumbing in the halls. The decor uses gloss black trim and dark carpets which shows dust and dirt more rapidly than a lighter color choice would have. The room was in need of a good dusting since all light fixture had a thick coat of dust on them. The pictures and mirrors on the walls all had cobwebs on them. The carpet in the room felt sticky. The bathroom was updated and clean. read more

The balcony on the top floor bar had a beautiful view.
Room was filthy and infested with wasps. Staff did not respond to complaints.

The Crescent Hotel is full of history and character.
Everything is so old that it is hard to achieve the level of cleanliness that I like. It was still adequate.

Great historic hotel in an amazing setting. Staff wears old fashion uniforms which adds to the fun old time environment. You can almost picture the kind of clients who have frequented the Crescent over the years, it's history is fascinating. The grounds are beautiful so it is a popular setting for weddings.

Location.
It's a historic hotel but hasn't been kept up well.

The Crescent Hotel has a stunning location, at the top of the big hill overlooking the town. However, it has not been kept up properly. The rug in our room was sticky in places; the hair dryer didn't work; and the decor was depressing. The bartenders in the upstairs bar were rude, and the bar in the lobby was closed to the public, we were told on a Saturday night. Without our realizing it ahead of time, dozens of motorcyclists converged on the hotel for a weekend, parking their cycles directly beside the hotel entrance and making noise with their (illegal) exhaust pipes all weekend. read more

The history and well kept for age.
Did not like staying on the floor next to Dr.Baker's lounge.

I loved everything about the hotel except the fact of the inconsiderate people on the 4th floor that went to the lounge and were very loud.

The Victorian decor was beautiful and was a very clean and friendly establishment. Atmosphere was friendly and finding out about the history and taking the tour added to the enchantment of the hotel. Will be going back again.

The experiences we had was well worth the trip, we got some awesome pictures, you'd have to see to believe.
The one and only thing we did not like (we could not afford to eat at the restaurant for dinner it was far to expensive).

As far as the hotel is concerned we had a blast. We were fortunate enough to get acquainted with some of the staff. Lady who works in the gift shop, she was just as friendly.
