Bed was comfy.
The bathroom reminded me of a motel 6.
The bed was nice, the bathroom was a motel 6 and I had to pay $24 extra per night to park my car.

This is a beautiful hotel in the Little Tokyo section of downtown Los Angeles.
It is aging a bit, especially the shower and tub.
This used to be the New Otani hotel. It is the best choice to stay in if you need to stay in Little Tokyo. It is a bit away from the other downtown hotels and thus there is less night traffic and is quieter than the other hotels, Figueroa.

Live Jazz, nice Japanese Garden, walk to Little Tokyo.
Noisy, uncomfortable Beds, old ugly bathroom. Downtown-priced parking.
The bed are really uncomfortable to sleep in, pillows are hard. You can tell they renovated the room but stop short with the bathrooms, so the bathrooms look old and ugly, but luckily not moldy. Worst of all though, there's no sound-proofing in the room at all. My room was on the 7th floor facing the Garden side where they have the live Jazz music playing at night and it's definitely loud, which is nice if you enjoy it, but may be problematic for people who want to go to bed before 11PM. Waited in the line for 15-20 minutes to check-in at about 12:30, with 4 groups of people behind me because only one person was on duty, asked bellhop to call other staff to help and the he only said the other front desk was on lunch break. Similar situation at check-out, but luckily the questions that should have been handled by concierge were handled quickly, so only stood in line for 5-10 minutes. $30 Valet, $24 Self Parking, on par with downtown price. Internet $9.95 in-room isn't too bad compared to other hotels. Not exactly nice to see all the homeless right in front of the hotel. The hotel isn't exactly what you'd expect to find at a 4 or 3-star hotel either. read more

Little Tokyo (Japanese eatery place) was right next to the hotel. Excellent!
Certain night, there was a band playing in the garden until 11 pm. I couldn't sleep.
I would definitely recommend this hotel to my friends and family. I had so much fun discovering the restaurants in Little Tokyo (right next to the hotel). It was cheap and delicious! The shower, oh my gosh, your tiredness would go away instantly. I arrived three hours early before the check-in time and they allowed me to check-in early. Also, after I check-out, they kept my luggage for three hours without charging any, can't be more merrier than this. I took subway every morning. It was only three blocks away from the hotel. Try walking in the garden after dinner and take some pictures with your friends. It's so much fun - lovely place. read more

I was disappointed that a Japanese hotel had no one at the front desk who spoke Japanese for the Japanese tourist!
I enjoy staying at this hotel. But noticed when check-in and out that on one at the front desk spoke Japanese. Everyone was Hispanic, which they were all very friendly and helpful. But this is a Japanese Hotel! Three people came to the desk, from Japanese, speaking only Japanese and no one could help them. I travel a great deal an know and understand how difficult it is when no one can understand you or help you. My experience was great at this hotel. Just something I noticed! read more
