Fifteen miles northeast from Ventura's excellent beaches, just eighty miles north of Los Angeles, with Santa Barbara just twenty-five miles over a spectacular mountain highway pass, Ojai is at once remote and readily accessible. Tucked into the Los Padres National Forest wilderness, between beautiful Lake Casitas and the 4500 to 5000 feet Topa Topa (multi-colored) Mountains, this pristine area and friendly little town of under 10,000 was the site for Shangri-La in the 1937 film "Lost Horizon" based on the novel by James Hilton, starring Ronald Coleman and directed by Frank Capra. Soule Park Public PGA Golf Course is directly across the street. There are public tennis courts all through Ojai. Restaurants, shopping, museums, art and pottery galleries, parks, Ojai's quaint and festive downtown area, are all within a three to eight block walking distance. Fabulous Lake Casitas, with its marina, boat rentals, picnic areas, water park and world class large mouth bass fishing, is just a short six mile drive south. With AAA, senior, group, and weekday extended stay discounted rates, we will always do our very best to fit your budget. Our recently finished cozy little meeting room can accommodate up to 50 guests for their pleasure or business meetings.
