Excellent location and decor.
No business center (I couldn't print out my presentation).
The clift is indeed a hotel that thinks it is a nightclub. When you enter downstairs after dark, the music is loud, etc. though the rooms upstairs are just fine. Rooms are well appointed and comfortable. The fitness center was also quite good, though it did have the common problem of the headphone jacks on the cardio machines being broken/staticky. All in all, I found the hotel quite nice and my only complaint is that I would have liked a business center to print out my documents. read more

Good location.
The parking was $57 per night for my car. The bathroom was too tiny. Toilet looked like it should be in a public bathroom.
Very dark interior in the lobby. Purple walls in the hotel room was kind of
weird.

The Redwood Room was amazing. A visual feast, interesting and quirky decor.
I expected more from the room. It did not fit the star rating of the hotel.
The staff was friendly, the location was excellent, the Redwood Room was spectacular.

Great atmosphere. Food was amazing.
Beds and pillows were a little hard for my taste.
Great location down from Union Square. Staff was incredibly helpful to this first time visitor to San Francisco. There were two full sized beds rather than queen and they were a little too firm for my taste, but the rest of my experience made up for that.

Location only!
Beds are unbearable. Thin walls and the 50 dollar a night valet parking just put a cap on this horrible experience. They have no ice machines, you have to call room service. They do have prophylactics in the mini bar, which I found interesting. No pool, no jacuzzi and the prices around the hotel will make you gasp.

Trendy hotel in a convenient location close to Union Square.
Hotel turn down service often gave us damp bed linens!
Very nice hotel with decent sized rooms located in a convenient location near Union Square. Staff was courteous and attentive. Unique lobby but way way too dark!

Bathroom was clean, but hardly enough room to turn around in.
Rooms small, outdated furniture. Asked for a double bed room, said non available, but could locate one for an extra 40 a night.
Gentlemen at registration rude. Lightning so poor one couldn't find elevator button. Room very small. Furniture night stands clear plastic cubes with orange paint on the legs, so very cheap looking. Coffee only available one morning, 6-8. One could hardly label this anything above a 2 star.

Upscale and great location in the city.
The rooms were decorated beautifully and spacious. The bar was remarkable. We just loved our stay.
