Rather old facility, but well-kept, great location 5min away from the village, good value for the price we got.

Central location to both parts of Vail
Room missing window screen, carpet buckled, toilet didn't flush well
This hotel appears to have been upgraded recently. Paint is fresh. Lobby is kind of "dark." Our particular room had no screen on the window, carpet was buckling near the bathroom, toilet didn't flush well (sometimes had to flush it twice), tub/shower drain plug was not in working order (had to remove it for water to drain).

Great staff.
The hotel itself is fairly decent and the staff is friendly and helpful. The hotel has a restaurant which unfortunately closes around 8 pm.

Easy to leave.
Bad rooms, no staff, bad location, moldy smell.
The Evergreen lodge is like a trip back in time to the 60's, but not because of the nostalgia but rather the very shabby decor, the dark and prison-like rooms, and blankets and pillows that may have actually been purchased back then. It is a true do it yourself facility, you get to bring you own bags to your room, bring you own skis in and out of the ski closet and walk yourself a fair distance to the shuttle bus. Good news is you don't have to worry about having tip money, there's no-one to tip. I was so disgusted by the conditions that I left. read more

Location.
The highway was loud on the front side of the building.
It's not the fanciest hotel, but the location and cost were right. We got a room with a valley view, which meant not the mountains. It was kind of loud with the highway right there. The other problem was that there is no thermostat to control the room temp, so it was hot. We had to open the window, then it got cold.

The hot tub and pool.
The staff was cold.
The general condition of the hotel was the mid 1970's. The hotel was not in the best of shape and somewhat run down. The rooms were nice and in good condition.
