Description of Jekyll Island Club Hotel
Nestled in a natural setting of a barrier island off the Georgia coast, the Jekyll Island Club opened in 1888 as a hunting retreat for America's wealthiest families. Here, millionaires such as the Rockefellers, Vanderbilts, J.P. Morgan and the Astors wintered in seclusion until the onset of World War II. Subsequently abandoned, it was meticulously restored in 1986, and returned to its original elegance, from the lofty towers to the encircling verandas. Now a world class resort for your next vacation, getaway, retreat or meeting. A landmark to experience read more

The ambience, charm and history.
Needed better maintenance.

Many of the hallways/banquet rooms were musty, the toilet in our room took approximately 30 mins to refill after each flush. The battery to the room safe ran out and we could not access items in the safe until the day of checkout. The hotel booked a wedding reception with an outdoor band. The band blasted throughout the hotel complex until 10:30PM. We could hear every word of the vocalists in our room. It completely ruined the mood of the evening. read more

We've been here several times and have always enjoyed our stays.
They were renovating, painting etc. and the smell of paint was strong, no pictures in room. Cell phone did not work.

They should let people know in advance that cell phones don't work there. My husband had unimportant conference call (overseas) so we had to leave the Island in order for him to participate in it.

Beautiful setting, close to everything, loved the Cafe.
They painted our door while we were inside and didn't tell us. Loud housekeeping made it hard for my son to nap.

Great hotel, we would go back for sure. It was pricey but worth it when we saw the other hotels in the area. Make sure you check out the Sea Turtle Rescue located behind the parking lot, it is fantastic!

The location was good.
Rooms too small for the price charged.

Nice, but overpriced. Staff was courteous, but not friendly. Rooms too small for the furniture included and extremely crowded for the advertised number of occupants.

Very clean and well kept grounds, pool very clean ,nice staff.
Not enough staff (bellboys very busy, not enough of them)

We liked Jekyll island club hotel, right in historic district, close to everything, meals a little too expensive for me, overall excellent stay.
