Aqua Island Colony Hotel

The receptionist was about the only friendly staff member, the room was incredibly dirty and was located right next to the trash/refuge chute so the smell of everyone else's trash was always seeping into the room. There was dirty Kleenex on the floor, stained and dirty bathtub, and the TV remote did not work to which we were told "yes, we know. Several rooms are having the same problems". Good deal for the money. Location is quite good, about three short blocks to Waikiki Beach. One block to most shopping and restaurant.

It's ok...

Parking was the main issue for me. At $18 per day and a very complicated pay for parking system used that was independent of the hotel. Hotel should take some responsibility and accountability for the parking issues but would not get involved. Just to exit parking area, one had to get by the booth. It took a long time for each car to exit while waiting to pay for each days parking. Carpet was stained and dirty in my room but everything else in room was clean and serviceable. After calling ahead to ask for a king-size bed, our request was granted. It was a special anniversary for us and we were given a room with a pretty view and a box of chocolates. The staff was exceptional. We enjoyed venturing out and about the Waikiki and Honolulu area which was close by. We would return to this hotel if the opportunity arose.

Clean remodeled room.

There was a false alarm one morning, end up it shut down the elevator. The hotel engineer didn't know how to turn on the elevator. We had to walk down from 37th floor as we had to go to work.

The hotel in located in a good area along the canal and close to the International Market and the beach. It would be a prefect hotel for an economical holiday get away as it was equipped with a fridge, microwave and kitchen equipment.
