Bed was comfortable.
Not at all the star level I expected. I think there was a bait and switch.
This is an old hotel, well kept up but it has at least more than two levels of rooms and we signed up for a 3.5 level and they gave us a 2.5 level room. We had to pay for an upgrade which made it not a very good deal. The room they gave us was very small and there was no view at all. We had to pay 20 dollars more to move to a room we could both fit in. If I had paid less it would be OK, but I was not happy with this bait and switch. read more

Location.
Restaurant food was terrible and expensive.
Great location. No swimming pool. Decent workout room plus a meditation space. Rooms are small but clean and comfortable.

Our corner room, with a view, was beautiful.
The breakfast buffer in the hotel lobby was awful.
We had a convenient and prompt check-in, in a very crowded lobby. The room was very nice, well appointed although the TV was old technology. The bathroom was tiny, but efficient and stocked with nice towels and toiletries. Lots of street noise, but hey, it is the middle of Boston. For me, that is part of the charm! The next morning, we went to the breakfast buffet in the hotel lobby dining area - it was awful. From the 10 minute wait and disappearing host for just clearing the table; to the sticky table; to the failure of any waiters to approach us; to the frozen milk cartons; to the cold French toast and eggs; to the inability to get a bill; to having to use the self service bar outside the restaurant to get a re-fill of coffee - it was awful. You should know that my $45 bill for two buffets was handled promptly, without argument, by an apologetic manager, who promised that the restaurant was due to be closed and re-opened in an improved format - but that didn't resolve the fact that my last impression of this luxury hotel on an otherwise great overnight was an awful experience. read more

Very small bathrooms, quirky odd sized rooms.
This was a great location, a friendly staff, but the room was too small for the three adults I booked it for. They moved us to a larger room the second night and it was huge (with a tiny bathroom) but the beds were odd and not very comfortable - a Murphy bed with a queen mattress and a pull out sofa.
