Holiday Inn Memphis East

This was a typical Holiday Inn, the premium moniker means nothing at this hotel. It was advertised as a three star, but it was more of a two. The staff was indifferent and the rooms were OK but that's all. The pool area smelled bad and the workout area was small and also smelled. the parking lot was unsecured and not in the best area.

Liked the room/location/etc. but found the hotel staff not very helpful. I had 2 overnight packages delivered - when I asked for them that evening, they didn't know where they were, thought they were locked in the sales dept. & I couldn't get them until the next day (defeats the purpose of an overnight package!). They found them, but they seemed clueless that this was important to me. Then they didn't have any take out menus, so it made a simple task of ordering after a long day of work very difficult - trying to locate who would deliver, trying to find menus online, etc. I've never been to a hotel that caters to business travelers that didn't provide menus. read more

Very well managed, convenient, and clean. Highly recommend.

Kind of far from downtown Memphis, but one of the safest locations in the Memphis area.

Carpet was not clean in public areas. Outside drive up area was outdated and not very clean. No door man or valet parking offered...yet seemed like it was that kind of hotel. Lobby was boring. We needed one king or queen bed...had to take 2 fulls. The bed was hard and had a dip in the middle...very uncomfortable. Bedspreads were old. Toilet ran all night.

I will stay at this hotel every time I'm in the area.

We felt this hotel is very run-down and very atypical of what we have come to expect in Holiday Inn Select hotels. The air conditioner was noisy unit by the window that drowned out the TV and was very annoying to listen to it rattle and buzz as we tried to sleep. The bathroom had a sour smell in it. When we called down to the front desk to request an extra towel, the desk clerk told me we could come down and get them ourselves. I told her I was already dressed for bed and she told me she couldn't help me. When my husband and two children were ready to leave the pool, no towels were in the shelves. He asked a worker for some more and finally gave up after waiting 15 minutes and dripped his way to the desk to pick some up. The general attitude of all who work at this hotel is very lazy and rude. It just didn't seem that anyone working there cares about the integrity and reputation of the hotel. There are plenty of other much nicer hotels in the Memphis area - we won't waste another dollar at this one! read more

The hotel was very clean, room was very clean, bed was very comfortable and the staff was very friendly and polite. I definitely would stay at this hotel again for both pleasure and business.
