The "fantastic" rooftop beach bar complete with fire pits gives it away: this "terminally hip" property near the Gaslamp Quarter caters to the "under-30" crowd; the "good-looking", "attentive" staff that sometimes "takes itself too seriously" matches the look and attitude of the "beautiful" clientele, and everyone seems to be having a "wild" time after dark, so who cares if the rooms are so "teensy" "only a lilliputian could love them."

The hotel had a very modern feel to it and funky decor.
There was no coffee available other than room service and it was very pricey.

Although this hotel was very modern and clean, it went over the top and so gave up comfort for appearance. The only sitting places in the room were either an uncomfortable desk chair or a window seat that faced a parking lot that was very awkward to sit on and was also uncomfortable. There was no complementary coffee available and the cost of ordering a tea and a coffee came to almost $20. Although we liked the hotel overall, we probably wouldn't stay here again. read more

I loved the location. Walking distance to everything. Happening Hotel!
Had to Valet and it was pricy.

This is a great spot for couples or singles looking for a fun weekend. Walking distance to the Gaslamp District. Great bars and restaurants nearby. The hotel turns into a night-club in the evening. Very fun. Also had a great outdoor deck with D.J. and full bar. Comfortable setting with Cabanas in the sand. I would highly recommend this hotel.

Parking was charged $32 /day.

This hotel is definitely not family/kid friendly. Room was very small and somewhat dirty. Parking was horrible.

A
bit too trendy - even when I knew who signed for my FedEx package the staff did not look for it.

Very cool, hip, hotel - big bar scene - great happy hour - food and drink specials.

Very hip, good location, immaculate, nice rooms.
Atmospherically cold, no real pool, creepy elevators.

We were nervous to stay here after reading some of the reviews about the service. Only one of the bartenders had a superior attitude; everyone else at the hotel was very friendly. We both agreed that it is too hip for us. The hotel seemed pretty empty on a holiday weekend, and the conversation in the restaurant at breakfast was all about having spent
a lot at the bar the night before. This seems to be a partier's paradise. We might rethink this, since it's not clear that partiers have the cash to afford the rooms these days. We got a great deal here. read more
