The hotel had a very modern feel to it and funky decor.
There was no coffee available other than room service and it was very pricey.
Although this hotel was very modern and clean, it went over the top and so gave up comfort for appearance. The only sitting places in the room were either an uncomfortable desk chair or a window seat that faced a parking lot that was very awkward to sit on and was also uncomfortable. There was no complementary coffee available and the cost of ordering a tea and a coffee came to almost $20. Although we liked the hotel overall, we probably wouldn't stay here again. read more

I loved the location. Walking distance to everything. Happening Hotel!
Had to Valet and it was pricy.
This is a great spot for couples or singles looking for a fun weekend. Walking distance to the Gaslamp District. Great bars and restaurants nearby. The hotel turns into a night-club in the evening. Very fun. Also had a great outdoor deck with D.J. and full bar. Comfortable setting with Cabanas in the sand. I would highly recommend this hotel.

Very hip, good location, immaculate, nice rooms.
Atmospherically cold, no real pool, creepy elevators.
We were nervous to stay here after reading some of the reviews about the service. Only one of the bartenders had a superior attitude; everyone else at the hotel was very friendly. We both agreed that it is too hip for us. The hotel seemed pretty empty on a holiday weekend, and the conversation in the restaurant at breakfast was all about having spent
a lot at the bar the night before. This seems to be a partier's paradise. We might rethink this, since it's not clear that partiers have the cash to afford the rooms these days. We got a great deal here. read more

Rooms way too dark due to very low wattage bulbs - impossible in bathroom.
This place tries way too hard to be cool - really seems false. This even includes the double-entered statement on their own evaluation form. Bright colors in lobby annoyingly unsophisticated for a hotel that is relatively pricey - shape of furniture interesting but one would expect a minimalist approach. Euro techno rock that seemed to be constantly playing rather too loudly in both elevators and lobby reminded me of the Zurich train station during street parade festival weekend. read more

Great place to stay and hang out.
Parking was the only one I had a problem with.
Great place to stay. I loved the night life of the hotel. You don't even have to leave the hotel to party.

The room was beautiful and comfortable. The mattress was awesome!
The lobby wasn't very appealing.
The hotel is great. The staff and service were great, as expected from a W Hotel. We didn't feel as if we were lacking or requiring anything from our accommodations.

Atmosphere, friendly staff, decor, Acura program.
Met and exceeded our expectations. Will certainly try to book the W again.
