Originally a swanky cabaret when it first opened in 1939, this venerable venue in Downtown has been a stage for the likes of Al Jolson, Duke Ellington, the Ramones, the Police and Pearl Jam; today the spacious, no-frills club, one of the biggest in town, puts on rock, hip-hop and alternative national acts ranging from David Byrne to Snoop Dogg.
